Driving to Camp

Most families drive their camper to and from camp. Arrival day is a drive-through format. On closing day, parents park and are able to walk around camp with their child. We are approximately one hour from Truckee and one hour from Reno.

The physical address for directions is: 5390 Ice Pond Road, Portola, CA 96122.

Arrival Time

Please arrive at camp on Sunday between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM. We do not have staff to accommodate early arrivals.

Departure Time

Sessions 1 – 6: Please arrive on Saturday between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM.

Sessions 7: Please arrive on Saturday between 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM.

Airline Travel Information

Campers may arrive and depart on flights from the Reno – Tahoe International Airport (RNO) and we will transport them to and from camp. This option is for campers booked on flights within the arrival and departure windows below only. (If you fly with your camper, please plan to rent a car and use the Driving to Camp information above.)

UNACCOMPANIED MINORS: If your child is flying as an Unaccompanied Minor, pay all UM fees with your airline and complete the required online forms for your airline. Please contact our office after May 1st for the name of the staff member who will meet your child at the airport and use the camp address and phone number: 5390 Ice Pond Road, Portola, CA 96122, 530-274-9577 for UM forms.

ARRIVALS: Book flights that arrive on Sunday morning between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

DEPARTURES: Book flights that depart on Saturday between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM. (Session 7 = 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM)

FLIGHT DELAYS / CANCELLATIONS: If your camper’s flight is delayed or cancelled on closing day, you will need to make arrangements to pick-up your child at the Reno airport. We are not able to provide overnight supervision on Saturday.

TRANSPORTATION FORM: Complete the online transportation form at least 2 WEEKS PRIOR to the start of the session.

FEE: There is a $100 fee (per camper, each direction) for transportation to and from the Reno Airport.

Campers may also arrive and depart by private plane at the small Nervino Airport in Beckwourth near camp. Please call our office to make arrangements to shuttle your child to and from camp and the Nervino airport. Please note: A member of our staff will arrive to pick-up your camper. Parents may not accompany the child to camp.
