Staff Fall Adventures
Summer may be over but our camp staff have certainly been keeping busy. We caught up with a few to hear about their fall adventures.
Second-year counselor, James, is studying abroad in London as a part of his third year at Wake Forest University. His highlights have included going to football matches (soccer for anyone stateside) and visiting famous sites like the Tower of London. He’s taken weekend trips to Paris and Wales and is looking forward to an upcoming trip to Munich!
Josh, our Store Manager, hit the road right after camp to his home state of North Carolina. Not long after, he hopped on a flight to trek the Camino de Santiago with his best friend Gracie, who was a First Aid Provider at Walton’s for two summers. They spent a week hiking about 15 miles each day on their way to Santiago. They both enjoyed getting to meet people of different ages and from many walks of life while making the trek.
First-year counselor, Alex, is finishing up her last year of community college in Chicago. School and work have been keeping her busy. She manages the before and after school care at her local elementary school. Alex has also been enjoying yoga and is taking classes at a nearby studio. Now that she is home, Alex is spending lots of time with her family and cats, while still finding time to soak up the last moments of summer with her friends at Chicago’s beautiful beaches.
First-year counselor, Shaquera, flew straight from camp to Chicago, where she met up with family to explore the city. She then returned to her home state of Mississippi where she got to catch up with friends and spend lots of time outside, including painting in the park. Shaquera is off on her next adventure in Europe! She recently landed in Scotland, the first stop on her backpacking trip which will include Ireland, Portugal, Czechia, and Morocco.
