New Special Event!

All of us at Walton’s Grizzly Lodge are incredibly thankful for the wonderful camp community we spend each summer with, especially when opportunities to disconnect from our electronics and spend time in nature are becoming increasingly rare.

We believe in the importance of preserving the classic summer camp experience while creating memories that last a lifetime. Camp traditions, new and old, are central to the special community we create in camp and with that in mind, we are excited to announce our newest all-camp Special Event; The 4th of July Festival! Don’t worry, the Session 2 Carnival isn’t going anywhere, we’re just adding a new tradition to celebrate the Fourth of July. The event will debut this summer during Session 3.

Groups will compete to see who can come up with the best group costume as they enter the festival and who can show the most spirit during the event. Group events (including staff member teams) include classic Field Races, Tug of War, and Greasy Watermelon Football. Individual challenges include kayak races and a closest-to-the-pin disc golf competition. There will also be a Dunk Bucket, Ring Your Counselor, and camper and staff entertainment as part of the fun-filled morning that leads to a classic camp BBQ picnic lunch with all the 4th of July fixings.

The day will conclude with an all-camp Ice Cream Social. We can’t wait for our campers and staff to take part in the 4th of July Festival during Session 3. As our Special Events Director Jack loves to say, “I am excited, and you should be too!”
