Longtime Walton’s camper and staff member Brendan Bolles, better known at camp as Mr. B, married Amy Gershkoff in San Francisco on September 1st. The wedding was held at the Great American Music Hall and was attended by nearly 20 Walton’s staff members past and present. Bob and Denise Stein were in attendance as were Jared and Erica Stein and Adam and Julie Walton. Adam, along with Andy “The Beast” Cheskaty were both in the wedding party. The Neil Diamond tribute band Super Diamond provided the music. The Walton’s crowd made quite an impression on the dance floor as they danced and sang along to Neil Diamond classics like “Sweet Caroline” and “Cracklin’ Rosie.” On Sunday afternoon the Bride and Groom were joined by 75 of those who attended the wedding at AT&T Park on a beautiful Sunday to watch the Giants play the New York Mets. Mr. B’s time at camp began in 1983 as a Lo Cub. From there he worked his way up through the group ranks, became a CILT in 1990, a Junior Counselor in 1992 and a counselor in 1993. During his time at camp he also worked as our Special Events Director and was a Special Assistant. When he was no longer able to commit to working a full summer at camp, Mr. B would return to work session #1 with us. He did this from the late 1990’s through the summer of 2006. On each of these occasions he was the counselor for the Lo Cubs. We still have a few old timers at camp (Marc Codega to name one) who remember having Mr. B as their counselor.

Mr. B was a fantastic counsleor to a generation of Walton’s campers. Many of his former campers went on to become Walton’s counselors. All of those who did no doubt attempted to emulate Mr. B as they took on the role of camp counsleor. Countless campers learned to sail under the guidance of Mr. B, shot an Air Rifle for the first time when he was leading the activity, played Pass The Pigs with him and were entertained by his far too many to count outstanding performances at campfire. Those who have heard a Mr. B rendition of the “Mooser Khaner” or “Old Ben Lucas” are not soon to forget it.

Other Walton’s alumni who attended the wedding included three of Brendan’s former Walton’s counsleors, Andre “Lou” DeLeon, Terry Grim and Mike Whittle. Gia Grim, Delphi Whittle and Garen Gouveia were also in attenndance as was Newell who made the trip all the way from New Zealand. Other Walton’s co-workers at the wedding included Lee and Robin Black and Chris Sherwood.

Brendan Bolles time at camp was special to him and all of those he came in contact with. Now he has married the fabulous Amy Gershkoff who has taken the name Amy Bolles. We wish them all the best as they embark on their new adventure together. Like their wedding weekend, their marriage is going to be full of friends, family, fun and great memories that they will make together and with those they come in contact with.
