Yesterday we said goodbye to Joe Stein. Joe passed away peacefully in his sleep in Grass Valley.

The son of Mom and Pop Walton, Joe was born in 1922 in San Francisco. He led a full, active life for each of his 96 years. He will be remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and true friend.

Joe was a leader and mentor to generations of Walton’s Grizzly Lodge campers. He also designed a large portion of the camp Program and many of the Special Events that we use at camp to this day.

In addition to his work at camp, Joe was a teacher, coach, author, painter, avid golfer, San Francisco Giants and 49ers fan and excercise enthusiast.

Joe had a positive impact on so many lives, for so many years, throughout so many phases of his life. He will be missed. He will be remembered. He is loved by so many.
