This summer marks our 100th season and we are looking forward to celebrating this exciting milestone. The camp store will feature a special edition 1926 t-shirt commemorating the beginning of what has become a very long history.

Walton’s Grizzly Lodge was founded in 1926 by Mom and Pop Walton. They originally ran a school in San Francisco and a summer program in Marin County. In the 1940s Mom and Pop moved the summer program to its current site in Plumas County. Eventually their son, Joe Stein and his wife Gert took the helm and later, their son Bob Stein and his wife Denise became the third generation to run camp. Today, our families continue the tradition as the 4th and 5th generation owners and directors.

We look forward to celebrating this legacy with the thousands of people who have been touched by Walton’s Grizzly Lodge. An online yearbook of memories throughout the decades is in the works. If you have any historical photos to share, please email us and we will add them to the collection.
