Gold Panning

Campers enjoy the adventure of panning for gold in Grizzly Creek which flows from Lake Davis into our own lake. The Grizzly Gold Mine is nestled in a beautiful and quiet part of camp.

The Gold Panning area also hosts our exciting boat race, the “Tour de Grizz.” During our two week sessions, many campers choose to build boats in Woodworking and then race them down the creek. Some campers build and race their own boat, while others team up and race as a group. Awards are given for the various races and competitions including “Best of Show” for the most beautiful craftsmanship. The whole camp celebrates the event at the awards presentation and honor the boats that did not make it with a moment of silence.
