Back to School
According to the calendar, summer ended last week, but it’s officially been a month and a half since our summer camp season came to a close. We hope your transition into the school year has been smooth. We are missing our Walton’s campers!
Between academics, sports, music, friends and family, the school year can be a whirlwind. Our staff have been busy too! Do you ever wonder what Walton’s counselors do in the off-season? Our summer staff have also been busy learning, traveling, and pursuing their passions! Here is what just a few of our awesome staff members have been up to.
Quinn
Quinn, who was a second-year counselor this summer, is going into her third year at UC Davis and had some time to fill between camp and the start of her fall quarter. She has been enjoying family time in her hometown of Grass Valley, hanging out at the Yuba River (I Spy Max!), as well as helping out in her mom’s TK class. She even made a guest appearance as the elementary school mascot, Scottie the Eagle.
Will
Our Waterfront Director, Will, is completing his teaching credential through Sacramento State and has been student teaching in a 4th grade classroom this fall. He is excited to be getting hands-on experience with support from his excellent professors and connecting with students. Outside of the classroom, Will has been spending lots of time with family and friends by going out to eat, hiking, and seeing live music!
Huey
Huey, long-time Walton’s camper and first-year counselor, just started his second year at Loyola Marymount University. Since camp ended, Huey has been spending lots of time at the beach surfing and playing volleyball. Besides spending time on his studies and with friends and family, he has also been working on music videos with friends and going to concerts.
Hannah
First-year counselor, Hannah, is well into her final year at The American University of Rome where she is studying Fine Arts. Her classes this semester include some of her favorites: painting and printmaking. Hannah is also enjoying attending rehearsals with her gospel choir, drinking her daily cappuccino, hanging out with friends, and of course playing the guitar!
