Portola is now home to the first California disc golf course designed by legendary course designer John Houck. Houck has designed many of the top disc golf courses in the country. The 18 hole Portola Riverwalk Disc Golf Course is now open for play. The course features short and long tees and plays along the beautiful Feather River as it meanders through the Portola Riverwalk. Like our lake at camp, the area was formerly used to harvest ice and then loaded onto nearby railroad cars.

Walton’s is a proud sponsor of the course and we look forward to bringing interested campers to play it this summer. We are also excited to announce that longtime Walton’s staff member Terry Grim has been elected President of the Portola Riverwalk Disc Golf Club. Tournaments are scheduled, leagues are being planned and efforts are being made to introduce new players to the game. The project was a total community effort of volunteers. The pride that was put into it, and continues to be put into it, shines through every aspect and detail of the course.
